Meet Katie Stagliano, who grew a 40-pound cabbage as a 9-year-old in 2008; it fed 275 people and inspired more than 100 youth-run gardens

A third-grader’s giant cabbage sparked a mission to fight hunger across America. Katie’s Krops, a nonprofit, empowers youth to grow and donate fresh produce. This initiative has established over one hundred gardens in thirty-three states. These gardens have collectively donated more than half a million pounds of food. The program demonstrates how young volunteers gain valuable life skills and well-being.
