Bajrang Punia to return Padma Shri in protest over Sanjay Singh's election as WFI president

In a mark of protest, Olympic medallist Bajrang Punia said he will return his Padmi Shri to the Prime Minister. This decision comes in response to the election of Sanjay Singh, a loyalist of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, as the president of the Wrestling Federation of India. The trio of Bajrang, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik had launched an agitation against Brij Bhushan in January this year, aggressively pushing for a change of guard in the WFI but a close associate of the BJP MP is now at the helm.
